Therapies

We all go through difficulties at times and sometimes can feel out of our depth and in need of a helping hand. Please do not feel you have to go through this alone or that things can’t change. Let’s work together to see how we can understand things and make things better for the future.

I use my background in person-centred counselling to enhance the therapy I provide however my focus of treatment is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This allows us to explore the way you think about yourself, others and the world along with how these thinking patterns developed. We look together at how you respond to these thinking patterns and how these behaviours may have manifested over time to be unhelpful and reinforce your difficulties. We are then able to begin to break these cycles together and establish more helpful coping strategies in order to live the life you want to more fully.

I work with a variety of difficulties and have listed those I specialise in below:

  • Depression
  • Low self-esteem
  • Eating difficulties (however I do not work with individuals with a diagnosable Eating Disorder considered to need a wider team approach such as medics and psychiatrists but am keen to work with individuals to prevent you reaching this point or to help continue your road to recovery).
  • Body image difficulties
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Generalised anxiety and worry
  • Specific anxiety including social situations, health, panic and phobia
  • Insomnia and sleep difficulties
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Unsure whether CBT is for you?

I am more than happy to answer your initial questions and discuss how therapy might work for you with no obligation to commit to therapy.
